Central High School proudly announces that senior Adrian Posivenko has been named a Semifinalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. Additionally, seniors Sandra Rivera, Max Kubik, and Addison Smith received recognition as Commended National Merit Scholars for their outstanding academic performance.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), is a highly competitive nationwide academic contest that identifies and rewards high-achieving high school juniors. Students qualify for the program by taking the Preliminary SAT, also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), typically held in the fall of their junior year.

Each year, College Board supports over 7 million students across the country as they prepare for college and career paths through initiatives such as the SAT, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and the Big Future program. Founded more than 120 years ago, College Board is a nonprofit organization committed to expanding educational opportunities and equipping students with essential skills.

Adrian Posivenko, recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist, aspires to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in Mechatronics a multidisciplinary field combining mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and robotics. This achievement highlights Adrian’s academic dedication and potential for future success.

The Commended Scholars Sandra Rivera, Max Kubik, and Addison Smith also achieved high marks on the PSAT/NMSQT, earning distinction and acknowledgment for their exemplary scholarly accomplishments. Though they are not semifinalists, their commendation underscores strong academic capabilities and enhances their college applications.

Recognition through the National Merit Scholarship Program not only celebrates student excellence but also opens doors to scholarships and academic opportunities at colleges nationwide. Central High School congratulates these students and encourages all seniors to continue striving for academic growth and success.

This honor reflects the hard work, focus, and perseverance of these students and the support of their teachers and families. College Board remains committed to helping students navigate from high school to college and rewarding scholastic achievement through programs such as the National Merit Scholarship.
